In partnership with the Pre-Health Professions Center at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, Scenic Rivers hosted its first Mini IP Case Competition on October 9, 2019. The goal of the Mini IP Case Competition is to introduce students to healthcare problem solving with a focus on building interprofessional teamwork skills.
Students from both pre-health professions programs and health professions programs were divided into four interprofessional teams and tasked with developing a mental health awareness and suicide prevention plan. Each team presented their plan to a panel of judges where they were judged on interdisciplinary perspectives, creativity and presentation style.
The evening closed with a mini awards presentation where teams received prizes for their accomplishments.
1st Place - Team Pre Health Heroes
2nd Place - Team Happy
3rd Place - Team Mental Health Task Force
4th Place - Team WellBeing
Each team developed unique approaches to increasing mental health awareness across the UWL campus. The Mini Interprofessional Case Competition is a small preview of the annual statewide Interprofessional Case Competition that is hosted by Wisconsin AHEC in January at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells.
