Our regional health career camps are designed to for high school students, ages 16 and older, residing in the SRAHEC region, and who are interested in pursuing a health career. The northern region camp in La Crosse was held June 17-20, and included exploration of facilities like: Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua and Gundersen Healthcare System.
Students interacted and job shadowed with a variety of health care professionals, including: nursing, physician and physician assistant, occupational, physical and respiratory therapy, radiography, and paramedic and emergency services, and more.
The camp was an opportunity for students to visit college campuses, with like-minded peers as they prepare for post-secondary education. Campus visits included: Viterbo University, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Western Technical College with hands on simulations in health career educational programs, student-led tours and admissions presentations.
