For this month's student spotlight, we are featuring a student who has attended a number of Scenic Rivers AHEC programs. Learn more about Sarah's involvement with Scenic Rivers AHEC and her plans for the future.
Where are you originally from?
Bangor, WI
Where did you attend/or currently are attending school?
I am a senior at Bangor High School.
What are your future career/school goals?
I am interested in becoming a speech pathologist, a dietician, or a physician assistant.
What was your first experience with AHEC and what did you learn from it?
I attended the Health Careers Camp this past summer. I learned a lot about different careers in the health field from job shadows, the Gundersen ICE House, and speakers. The experience opened my eyes to careers that I hadn't considered before attending the camp.

Did you continue to participate in any AHEC programs such as camp counselor, AHEC alumni or AHEConnect?
As an AHEC alumni, I participated in AHEC Day at the Captiol.
Do you have plans to take advantage of AHEC programs in the future?
In college, I plan to participate in Wisconsin Express because I think it would be interesting to explore different cultures and to be able to work with other students as a team.
What advice would you give to younger students starting to navigate their future in a health care career?
Don't limit yourself to just one career option. Keep an open mind, and you might find several careers that interest you.
