The AHEConnect program matches high school students with a college student and professional mentor. This spring we rolled out a new change to the program that allows college students to also be matched with a professional mentor. This program is designed to provide insights into the educational path and career experiences of various healthcare professions.
Mentors and mentees meet a minimum of two times during the school year (in person, via Skype, or on the phone) to discuss topics like college course work, how to prepare now, and day-to-day work. Students also have the opportunity to job shadow with their professional mentor. Twenty one high school students participated in the AHEConnect program during the 2016-17 school year.
We are currently recruiting professionals and students to be matched in the fall program. More information can be found here.
