For this month's student spotlight, we are featuring a student who has attended a Hands on Health event. Learn more about Beau's involvement with Scenic Rivers AHEC and his plans for the future.
Where are you originally from?
Where did you attend/or currently are attending school?
I am a senior at Luther High School in Onalaska, Wisconsin.
What are your future career/school goals?
I plan to attend school to become a Pediatric Physician Assistant or Physical Therapist.
What was your first experience with AHEC and what did you learn from it?
I participated in a hands on health day with AHEC. I learned so much during that day about many health related jobs and careers. It helped me get a real life taste of what some jobs are like.
Do you have plans to take advantage of AHEC programs in the future?
I hope to take advantage of internships in the future.
What advice would you give to younger students starting to navigate their future in a health care career?
Get out early and immerse yourself with the many professions whether it be through camps, job shadows, or volunteering with a local hospital. Take advantage of opportunities to see what is out there for careers within the healthcare field and don't be afraid to talk to people about their jobs and find out what it is like.
