
This year's Iowa HPV and Cancer Conference was held on May 16th in Ankeny, Iowa. The conference brought together health professionals from all across the state of Iowa to discuss HPV and the importance of making a strong provider recommendation; policy; health disparities; tools and resources; cancer screening and co-testing, as well as inspiring survivor stories.
Sharon Humiston, MD, MPH, FAAP, from the Department of Pediatrics/Division of Emergency Medicine Children's Mercy Kansas City Professor spoke on "Our legacy: Increasing HPV vaccination rates."
A panel consisting of: Becky Parrish, DNP, WHNP-BC, Clinic Policy Coordinator, Family Planning Council of Iowa, Joseph Freund, MD, Family Physician UCS Healthcare, Shane Gailushas, MD, Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology- Ear, Nose, and Throat, Mercy, Cedar Rapids spoke on HPV associated cancers.
Tamika Felder, Founder and CEO of Cervivor School-- debuted new video showcasing cervical cancer survivor stories, as well as issues with policies, healthcare infrastructure, and support system for survivors.
