Student Spotlight: Tayler Garves

For this month's student spotlight, we are featuring a student who has attended a Hands on Health event. Learn more about Tayler's involvement with Scenic Rivers AHEC.

Where are you originally from?

Onalaska, WI

Where did you attend/or currently are attending school?

Onalaska High School

What are your future career/school goals?

I want to pursue a career in the medical/healthcare field but am unsure about which career at this point.

What was your first experience with AHEC and what did you learn from it?

I first participated in the Hands on Health day at Gundersen Health System. I learned more about the MD career (the career I job shadowed) and the work they do on a day-to-day basis.

Did you continue to participate in any AHEC programs such as camp counselor, AHEC alumni or AHEConnect?

Yes, I participated in AHEConnect.

Do you have plans to take advantage of AHEC programs in the future?

The internship program interests me.

What advice would you give to younger students starting to navigate their future in a health care career?

Take advantage of the wonderful camps and connections that AHEC and other organizations in the area provide young adults- especially young people like me who are unsure of their healthcare career. Organizations, such as AHEC, are great ways to learn something new about yourself, explore your interests, and meet new people!
