Student Spotlight: Kolten Kline

Where did you attend/or currently are attending school? (high school, university, etc)

I am attending the University of UW - Platteville and studying biology with an emphasis on biohealth.

What would you like to do in healthcare?

Once I graduate from UW - Platteville, I intend to enroll in the Masters of Occupational Therapy program at UW-Madison. From there, I hope to have a long career in OT based in the Madison area.

What was your first AHEC experience?

My first experience with AHEC was as a camp counselor, where I got to work with some great people and participate in various hands-on activities such as a simulation of a laproscopic surgery.

What other AHEC programming have you utilized or plan to participate in?

I am currently an AHEC alumni and I intend to stay engaged and involved with this great program in any way I can.

What advice would you give to younger students starting to navigate their future in a health care career?

Some advice that I can give to students pursuing a career in healthcare or any career for that matter is to get involved early, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to try new things. One of the best ways to make a decision on what to pursue as a career is to gain some first-hand experience with it, which is one of the many great opportunities that AHEC offers to students.
