We look to bring as much real life exposure to as many students as possible. By teaming up with local high schools in our service region, we are able to give students realistic experiences and contacts in the world of healthcare through our Hands on Health Days (HOH Days).

HOH Days start with individual job shadows with practicing healthcare professionals. From there students then participate in healthcare simulations in the world class simulation labs at the Integrated Center for Education at Gundersen. Simulations include arthroscopic surgery, CPR, nursing, intubation and vital signs, physical therapy and others.

Students can also participate in Exploratory Surgery days, which allow them to perform simulations in laparoscopic surgery, pre and post operation care, anesthesiology, and suturing. Students also get to watch a live surgery.

Additional Hands on Health Days were held in partnership with Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston and Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall this year.
