Scenic Rivers AHEC partners with regional organizations to provide educational internships to students interested in healthy communities. Students gain experience at local organizations, share their skills, learn about their community, and have firsthand experiences improving their communities health. Organizations mentor a student during the internship and accomplish work that improves the community.

Health Policy Internship with the Juneau County Health Department


Student Qualifications: 

  • Minimum: Baccalaureate-level student with experience and interest in public health. Effective communication and knowledge of community populations is required.     

  • Preferred: Master-level nursing, community health education, public health, or health profession student with an interest in public health or a baccalaureate-level student with experience and interest in public health. 


The Experience: 

The student will lead the implementation of a Health in All Policy project in Juneau County through collaboration with the Health Officer, HiAP Steering Committee, and community leaders. The student will implement mechanisms to engage stakeholders, implement HiAP processes, and evaluate outcomes through guidance of an implementation strategy



Some travel to Juneau County is necessary (reimbursement available) along with ability to connect virtually, periodically.

  • Requires personal transportation

  • Travel stipend available

  • Paid internship

  • Periodic travel to Mauston, WI.
