

AHEC Scholars Spotlight: Kali Priest
Originally from Eau Claire, Kali is currently in La Crosse attending the University of WI-La Crosse Physical Therapy Program. She says she joined AHEC scholars because she had previous work experience in a rural hospital, and enjoyed the population of people she engaged with. She hopes to gain a better understanding of the challenges patients face and what she can do to better serve them. AHEC Scholars Spotlight: Patrick Johnson
Patrick has had a winding path to the University of WI-Madison Physician Assistant Program. He's a life long learner with an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from Washington University in St. Louis and a B.A. in English Literature with an Emphasis in Creative Writing from UW-Madison. His current studies keep him plenty busy, but he joined AHEC Scholars in order to access resources to broaden his understanding of people with different experiences and backgrounds than his own


Hands on Health
On February 25th, students from Tomah High School participated in this event designed to provide hands on job related experience to future healthcare professionals. Hands on Health days start with individual student job shadows with healthcare professionals, followed by simulations in the world-class simulation labs at the Integrated Center for Education (ICE House) on the Gundersen, La Crosse campus.
