Scenic Rivers hosted an orientation for its first cohort of AHEC Scholars on January 17, 2019. AHEC Scholars is a new two-year program for health professions students interested in supplementing their education by gaining knowledge and experience in rural and/or underserved urban settings. During the Rural Health Experience on January 15, 2019, 63 Viterbo University nursing students from around the region were able to explore rural and public health first hand as part of their public health nursing course. Students heard from Shelly Teadt with CouleeCap, learning about the struggles families in poverty face, as well as resources available in the region.
